Classes
I regularly teach classes in freelance writing through the noncredit Extended Educational Services division of Northwestern Michigan College, Traverse City’s community college. Interested students can choose from two offerings:
- The Path to Magazine Assignments, which is aimed at students interested in occasional freelance writing, but do not intend to pursue it as their primary means of earning a living. Two-week evening class.
SYLLABUS - So You Want To Be a Freelance Writer…and Eat, Too, aimed at students who aspire to quitting their day jobs to become self-employed as writers. Four-week evening class.
SYLLABUS
The courses are not writing classes, but explore the business of writing, with particular focus on successfully querying publications and choosing a writing specialty. Each class is typically taught in the spring (March-April) and again in the fall (October-November.)
